i hate the normalization of boys being predatory in their youth, especially in media. i can’t count how many times i watched a movie or show and there was like a 12 year old boy who was staring through womens windows while they were getting dressed or groped a female classmate and the adults were just like “oh boys will be boys!” and the fathers would be like “well he’s just at that stage” and if he did it to a grown woman then she’d be like (scripted of course) “you’re at that age huh” like it’s so gross but it’s also incredibly dangerous. it creates a cultural mindset that that shit isn’t very predatory and rapey and that men can get away with doing anything to women because “well they’re just boys, you know how guys are, men have needs” etc. end that shit while they’re young. don’t let it go unchecked and allow another man to become a rapist because he thinks it’s fine and acceptable behavior.
And the flipside of this is fathers not letting their daughters do anything, wear anything, basically locking them away, because “I know how boys are at that age”. It’s vile.

All the talk about “oh Elon Musk’s buying twitter now all the people who fled from tumblr to twitter are gonna come back here” and gotta say. I’m on edge. SOMETHING happened to tumblr between 2018 and 2020 that turned it from a warzone to a tolerable shitposting website and my one best guess has always been that the p/orn ban sent so many people packing to twitter that we ended up exporting all our native-grown gremlins to the bird site. I back this theory up by the fact that all batshit fandom drama I hear about these days comes from twitter.
So for most people coming back, happy to see you welcome have some tea or coffee over on the table to the left but if the shit-stirrers come back for me it’s on sight. It’s on sight.
